The bloodiest Day Lebanon seen since the Civil War

Lebanese Health Minister Firas al-Abyad said today’s attacks by Israel marked the country’s “bloodiest day” since the 1975-1990 civil war.

Abyad said that the highest number of victims in the country was recorded in one day since the civil war.

Noting that today’s Israeli attacks killed 558 people, including 24 children and 39 women, Abyad said 1,024 people were wounded.

The Lebanese minister recalled that during the 33-day war between Israel and Hezbollah in 2006, around 10,000 people were injured.

However, he said that 5,100 people were injured in the past week alone.

The wave of migration from the southern regions of the country to the capital Beirut and the northern regions continues.
Israeli bombardment continues in southern Lebanon, including around the coastal city of Tyre. Thousands of residents are reportedly fleeing the region toward Beirut.

On Monday, Israel launched its most extensive wave of airstrikes on hundreds of Hezbollah targets.

The latest attacks come amid some of the heaviest cross-border exchanges of fire in nearly a year of conflict, as Israel shifts its focus to its northern border, where Hezbollah is firing rockets into Israel in support of its ally Hamas, which is engaged in war with Israel in Gaza.
