Members of the Prenj Konjic Mountain Rescue Service found the body of German citizen dr. Wolfram Misler at the site of Ploča, below the peak of Osobac on the Prenj mountain.
Doctor Missler disappeared in September 2024 after traveling to Bosnia and Herzegovina for research. His vehicle was then found at the foot of Prenje, and the last trail led to this part of the mountain.
Despite months of intensive searches, including searches of known routes and the use of drones, results have long been elusive.
GSS Prenj points out that its members never gave up the search.
“In the past nine months, with greater or lesser intensity, individual places and possible directions of movement were constantly checked, in the hope that any trace of the missing mountaineer would be discovered. Today, our rescuers, together with Sebastijan Misler, the son of the missing doctor, went out into the field again to go through certain paths that his father probably used. During this joint search, Dr. Missler’s body was found in very inaccessible terrain,” reads the press release of GSS Prenj published on their pages on Facebook.
It is added that an investigation is underway by members of the Konjic Police Department, which will be followed by an extremely demanding transport of the body through difficult and technically complicated terrain to a place where it can be picked up by a vehicle from the competent services.
“On behalf of all the members of GSS Prenj, we express our sincere condolences to the family of Dr. Wolfram Misler. His disappearance and the months-long search left a strong mark on all of us, both personally and professionally. Rest in peace, doctor,” reads the rescuer’s message.
Furthermore, they remind us of the unpredictability of Mount Prenj and once again appeal to all mountaineers to approach planning their tours with maximum responsibility and information, while adhering to all safety recommendations.
