The Ceremony of Awarding Honorary Doctorate of Sarajevo University to Louis John Esposito Today

johnToday in Sarajevo the ceremony of awarding the honorary doctorate of Sarajevo University to John Louis Esposito, professor of religion, international relations and Islamic studies of the Georgetown University in Washington, DC and director of the Center for Muslim-Christian understanding and the President of the American Academy of Religion will take place.

Esposito worked as a consultant for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of USA and for other agencies, European and Asian governments and corporations, universities and media worldwide. He is the President of the American Academy of Religion and the Ambassador of Civilizations Alliance to UN.

He is awarded with the prize of the American Religion Academy “Martin E. Marty” for public understanding of religion and “Quaid-i-Azzam” prize, awarded in Pakistan for great contribution to Islamic studies.

He has published more than 45 books, and his books and articles are translated into more than 35 languages.
