The selection of the best contractor for preparation works on the construction of Block 7 of the Thermal Power Plant Tuzla should be completed by the end of this month.

According to the relevant minister Nermin Dzindic, offers were sent mostly by domestic companies.

To recall, the construction of the Block 7 will fulfil all the needs for energy, security and independence of the electricity suppl in BiH. It will also provide the continuity of coal production and the restructuring of Mine Kreka within EPBiH. Great advantages of the Block 7 can also be seen in the increase of energy efficiency and decrease of greenhouse gas emissions.

To recall, the construction of this block is considered to be one of the main projects in BiH in the upcoming years. This is a 700 million EUR worth investment, of which 85 % will come from the Export – Import Bank of China, and the rest will be allocated by the Elektroprivreda BiH.

“Block 7 will be a replacement for existing blocks due to its efficiency, ecological parameters and cost-effectiveness. Block 7 will be constructed as the TE-TO block and it is planned for cogeneration, which will ensure the long-term supply of heat energy from the surrounding cities of Tuzla, Lukavac and Zivinice even after blocks 3 and 4, which are providing current heating, stop working,” as explained by the Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry.

They also added that the construction of Block 7 will satisfy all the needs for energy, security and independence of electricity supply in our country.

“Realization of the Block 7 represents a great opportunity for the engagement of local companies, since it was established that around 10 to 30 % of the net price for the Block will be realized in BiH. Furthermore, the realization of preparatory works for which Elektroprivreda BiH is in charge as well as related works conducted by EPBiH, will be realized in cooperation with domestic companies,” as noted from the Ministry.
