The coronation ceremony of the British King Charles III ended in Westminster Abbey around 1 pm CET.
Archbishop Justin Welby placed King Edward’s crown on Charles III’s head, the most important part of the coronation ceremony.
He placed the 360-year-old St Edward’s Crown on the monarch’s head as he sat on the 14th-century throne in Westminster Abbey.
Charles, who succeeded his mother Queen Elizabeth, who died in September last year, was previously presented with a range of historic items, from golden orbs and bejeweled swords to a scepter containing the world’s largest colorless cut diamond.
The king swore to govern nations and territories according to laws and customs. He also swore to administer law and justice with mercy and to uphold the Protestant Reformed religion.
“God save King Charles,” cried everyone in Westminster Abbey.
“Gentlemen, I here present to you King Charles, your undoubted king. All of you who have come today to pay your respects and service, are you willing to do the same,” were the words given to the king.
