Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has already, it is now certain, violated yet another international obligation. Namely, yesterday the deadline expired for paying 110 million BAM of debt to Viaduct, and BiH still has not made a final decision on the method of paying the debt.
Therefore, in addition to interest, it will now also pay penalties, so instead of 110 it will have to pay 113 million BAM. And while sanctions are increasingly being mentioned, the competent authorities are not offering a concrete solution.
It should be recalled that the debt to the Slovenian Viaduct arose after the Government of Republika Srpska (RS) revoked the concession granted to that company for the construction of a hydroelectric power plant on the Vrbas. In the meantime, the debt created by RS will be paid by the state, and due to a series of oversights, the prosecutor‘s offices have also become involved in the entire case.
