There are no swimmers in Neretva for years due to the decades of the Neretva pollution from which are “recruited” even future divers stars.
“If there are no swimmers there are no divers!”, describes the situation Emir Balić.
“Neretva is so polluted that it is mainly the news during the jumps. However, it is polluted during the entire year. If you remember, ten years ago, we have created even environmental commercials and videos, which had the goal to raise awareness about the purity of Neretva. Unfortunately, that is associated only with the dives and with the tradition”, said the spokesperson of the Divers Club, “Mostar” , Šaša Oručević.
The Divers say, that they will give their best that the tradition and this kind of performances to continue.
This year’s traditional high jumping from the Old Bridge, is the 447th in a row and will bring together thousands of fans of this extreme sport.
This is an extremely dangerous sport, which in Mostar is tradition for hundreds of years.
