The Lumen Field stadium in Seattle entered the history of the football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina as the place where we achieved the biggest victory ever.

The Dragons defeated Qatar with a score of 3:1 and thus took a huge step towards qualifying for the knockout stage of the World Cup, and according to the clear calculation, we will have to wait until the matches in all other groups are completed and the table of the third-placed teams is concluded.

We started the match fiercely, with intense attacks and chances, so with everything that we lacked in the matches against Canada and Switzerland.
We had our first chance already in the 2nd minute when Demirović shot from about 20 meters away, but the Qatar goalkeeper struggled to defend.
In the next attack, we saw another dangerous situation in front of our opponents’ goal, but again Abunada reacts well.
We continued to attack and were closer to the goal, which we reached in the 29th minute. Alajbegović brilliantly took the ball, “stringed” several defenders of Qatar, and with a real bomb sent the ball into the forks for the Dragons’ well-deserved lead of 1:0.
Our fans did not settle well after the leading goal, when the second one arrived. After one cross, Dzeko shot, the ball hooked a Qatar defender, changed direction and went into the net for a then convincing 2:0.
It was played in the 38th minute when we could solve all dilemmas about the winner already in the first half. A phenomenal ball was sent by Alajbegović, who finds Džeko who goes out alone on the goalkeeper Abunada, shoots, but unfortunately only hits the post.
By the end of the half, we saw an incomprehensible decline, which the Qatari football players really took advantage of. It was played in the 42nd minute when, after a desperate reaction from our defense, Al Haydos routinely scored for 2:1.

Deep in stoppage time, Katarani could have equalized, but fortunately for us, Pedro Miguel only hit the post, so we went to the break with a 2:1 lead.
As we finished the first, we also started the second, badly. It can even be said that Qatar was more dangerous. Julen Lopetegui’s team could have equalized in the 57th minute. Afif came out alone in front of Vasilj, but fortunately for us, he only hit the outer part of the net.
We had our first big chance in the second half in the 79th minute, but Abunada saved Bajraktarević’s attempt.
After that corner and a big crowd in the Qatar penalty area, the ball reaches the reserve player Mahmić, who scores a goal for a big celebration and the score 3:1.
In the end, it ended 3:1 for Sergej Barbarez’s team, who are now in the “waiting room” and waiting for the greatest success in history.
Although it is not 100 percent certain, according to everything, the next opponent of our selection in the round of 16 will be the USA.
That game will be played on July 2 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. The meeting starts at 2 am our time.
