As part of the project “Individual Measures for Strengthening Border Management Capacities in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, funded by the European Union and implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in BiH, seven SUV vehicles were handed over today to the Ministry of Interior of the Una-Sana Canton.

The value of the donation is 378,000 BAM, and the new vehicles will significantly improve the material and technical capacities of the cantonal police. This, as it was emphasized, will facilitate the response to the security challenges that the USC faces every day, given its role in migration management as a border canton.

“This donation is an important step in strengthening the operational capabilities of our police. In addition to technical support, it also represents confirmation that international partners recognize the challenges we are dealing with,” said the Minister of Interior of the USC Adnan Habibija.

Director of the Police Administration Amel Kozlica added that the new vehicles will significantly improve the mobility and efficiency of police officers in the field, especially in rural and difficult-to-access parts of the canton.

The Prime Minister of USC, Nijaz Hušić, thanked the European Union and IOM for their continued support and stressed the importance of professional cooperation.

“The USC Government has been implementing a number of projects in cooperation with the European Union Delegation and IOM for years, all with the aim of strengthening our capacities in the field of border and migration management. This specific donation is part of a broader strategy of equipping, training and strengthening institutions that play a key role in maintaining security and order in our canton,” said Hušić.

The handover of the vehicles was held in Bihać, in the presence of representatives of the USC Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Police Directorate, the USC Government and representatives of IOM.
