The EU submitted a Report on the Conditions for the Export of Red Meat from BiH

Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Stasa Kosarac announced that the Directorate for Health and Food Safety of the European Commission submitted an inspection report with the aim of determining the fulfillment of the conditions for the export of red meat from BiH to the European Union (EU) market.

The report of the Directorate was submitted to the Veterinary Office of BiH after the European audit team carried out the necessary controls in May of this year at export-oriented economic entities from the Republika Srpska (RS) and the Federation of BiH (FBiH).

”We appreciate that the observed shortcomings and recommendations from the report are not of a rigorous nature and that we can successfully overcome and implement them in order to ultimately achieve the set goal, which is to enable domestic entrepreneurs to place red meat on the European market,” Minister Kosarac stated.

He announced that at the beginning of September, he will organize a meeting with representatives of competent authorities from RS, FBiH, and Brcko District, where further steps will be defined and an action plan will be drawn up in connection with the fulfillment of obligations from the report.

”The EU is our important foreign trade partner, and we are actively working to create conditions for the export of domestic products to this, but also to other markets such as Russia and member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, China, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and the like,” he added.

According to him, the opening of new markets is one of the most adequate measures for the protection of domestic production, which is a priority in the work of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH.
