The municipal court in Tuzla sentenced Dr. Meliha ZahirovicSuljic, an infectious disease specialist from the Clinic for Infectious Diseases of the University Clinical Center (UKC) Tuzla, to one year in prison with the obligation to pay court costs and 20,000 BAM each to the father and mother of the deceased 15-year-old Maida Dzafic. By the indictment, she ischarged with serious crimes against people’s health in connection with the criminal offense of medical malpractice, which caused the death of fifteen-year-old Maida Dzafic from Gracanica in August 2020 in UKC Tuzla. Father Miralem is deeply disappointed by this verdict. The sentencing was also followed by fathers Muriz Memic and Davor Dragicevic, who are still waiting for justice for their sons – Dzenan and David.
Father Miralem said that he felt humiliated.
“One child’s life is worth a year – that’s sad and shameful. Shame for this country and for these people who sit in these institutions. Are they ashamed to go out on the street and look at the other children they are supposed to protect,” said Muharem.
Muriz Memic, the father of the murdered Dzenan Memic, who is still waiting for justice for his child, also said that the lenght of the sentence is shameful.
“It can be paid for, so a child’s life is worth that much. For eight years, I have been fighting to prove, and we have proven, what the state of the judiciary is. European reports were made, but still nothing changes,” said Muriz.
Davor Dragicevic stated that he has now completely lost faith in the judiciary.
“As a parent of a child who was killed by the Republika Srpska (RS) entity, I absolutely do not believe, and now with this verdict not even for a second, in the judiciary. Neither the entity nor the judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). This is just an additional motive or reward for other cases that will happen to us in the future. The people still can’t see it,” said Davor Dragicevic, N1 writes.
