Contracts on the allocation of financial assistance to cities and municipalities for the repair of damage caused by floods in the amount of 50 million KM were signed in Sarajevo with the mayors of the municipalities of Jablanica, Fojnica, Kiseljak and Kreševo and the mayors of Konjic and Mostar.

Deputy Prime Minister and Federal Minister of Finance Toni Kraljević noted that a year has passed since the last floods and that the first item created in the FBiH budget for this year was precisely the repair of flood damage.

He pointed out that the funds intended for this purpose will be paid into the accounts of six local self-government units as early as next week.

The Mayor of the Municipality of Jablanica, Emir Muratović, emphasized that this municipality received the largest amount considering the devastation in this area.

“This is an amount of 16,700,000 KM that will be spent on helping businesses that have suffered damage due to natural disasters,” he added.

Also, as he explained, in cooperation with the public company Ceste FBiH, work will be done on the reconstruction of main roads in the territory of the municipality of Jablanica.

Mayor of Konjic Osman Ćatić emphasized the importance of continuous support from higher levels of government, especially the Government of the Federation of BiH, emphasizing that joint action is key to the implementation of projects.

“It is much easier to work when there is a possibility to coordinate activities at the local, cantonal and federal levels. Perhaps the funds could be larger, but their implementation is limited by complex procedures, as many as four public procurements need to be carried out for one activity,” said Ćatić.

Representatives of the affected municipalities and cities emphasized the importance of financial assistance from the Government of the Federation of BiH, which, as they stated, will be focused primarily on the reconstruction of damaged infrastructure, assistance to business entities and support for the population that has suffered damage.

They also emphasized that this is a continuation of the continuous support of the federal government to local communities, which is reflected in various projects and assistance programs.

Mayors and representatives of the affected areas expressed their gratitude to the Government of the Federation of BiH and Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić for recognizing the needs of local communities.

The signing of the agreement on the designated use of funds allocated from the budget of the Federation of BiH for 2025 was attended by the Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH Nermin Nikšić and the Deputy Prime Ministers of the Federation Toni Kraljević and Vojin Mijatović, as well as the Secretary of the Government of the Federation of BiH Edita Kalajdžić.
