The Federal Ministry of Trade issued locked Prices for 65 Products

The Federal Ministry of Trade issued a statement yesterday regarding the price locking. As they highlighted, in the fifth wave of the locked prices project, a list was agreed upon for 65 food and hygiene products for which the price has been reduced and locked. Compared to the current prices, they will be lower by 17 to 23%. This will allow consumers to save around 60 BAM.

The prices on the list represent the maximum amount up to which the prices of these products can go.

This is the result of an agreement between the Federal Minister of Trade, Amir Hasicevic, and retailers, manufacturers, consumer associations, and representatives of the trade union, which was reached at the end of January 2025.

Three meetings were held to promote dialogue among all actors in the retail chain to alleviate pressure on consumers’ wallets due to January price increases and to ensure price stability for essential food and hygiene products.

Excluded items whose prices are rising daily on the global market

Numerous retail chains and other legal and natural persons with smaller-format stores are voluntarily participating in this project.

Retailers choose the brands of a particular product themselves, so they will have visibly displayed lists in their stores indicating which brands’ items are reduced and locked. The lists will also be published on the website of the Federal Ministry of Trade.

The project will last for three months, with the possibility of an extension.

It should be mentioned that this project, like the previous ones, was not designed to ensure low prices for luxury products but to enable socially vulnerable categories to obtain essential food products at affordable prices.

In this wave of the project, items whose prices are rising daily on the global market, such as coffee, have been excluded.

The locked prices cannot be increased for the duration of the initiative.
