The Fire in the Old Town caused Great Damage

A lightning strike due to a thunderstorm is most likely the reason for the big fire in the Old Town in Velika Kladuša. All available firefighting units in this municipality have been on the ground for almost two hours and have so far managed to prevent the fire from spreading, and it has been confirmed that there are no injuries.

“At least, no one was in that part of the Old Town at the time of the fire. All available firefighters and vehicles are on the ground and for now they manage to control the situation, i.e. they do not allow it to spread to other parts of the Old Town. Firefighters from Cazin, Pećigrad and Vojnić are also arriving, so we hope that the fire will be completely extinguished quickly. The material damage to the tower is huge, that is already quite clear,” said Senad Šehić from the Civil Protection of the Municipality of Velika Kladuša.

The Police Administration of the Una-Sana Canton also confirmed that police teams are already at the scene, and that investigative actions will be taken after the firefighters have completely extinguished the fire.
