The first cases of omicron strain of coronavirus were detected in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Of the 100 samples tested for the omicron strain, ten confirmed a new variant of the coronavirus. This was confirmed by the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo for Klix.ba.

Sebija Izetbegovic stated for Hayat.ba that this variant of coronavirus was isolated in the microbiological laboratory of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo.

Speaking about more details, she said that omicron is present in two patients from the Saraj-Polje Health Center, two in the DZ Stari Grad and Ilidza and four in the Center.

The Omicron strain has been a serious problem in Europe for some time, it was recorded in the countries of the region last week, and now it has been detected in our country as well.

New restrictive measures in some European countries are being introduced because of omicron, which medical studies say is much more contagious than previous strains.

The measures mainly relate to the future ban on gathering a large number of people for the New Year holidays.

However, the effect of omicron is already visible, considering that thousands of flights had to be canceled during the weekend.

What are the positive signals of the omicron variant of the coronavirus There is also some positive information regarding omicron, and that is that there are lower risks for those infected to get into difficult health situations.
