The flag flew in the center of Dublin: Ireland officially recognized Palestine

After Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced the decision to recognize Palestine this morning, a similar move from Dublin followed – Ireland officially recognized Palestine.

As announced, the Government of Ireland will officially begin the formalization of recognition today, which will mean turning the Irish representation in Palestine into an embassy and improving relations between Ireland and Palestine.

An ambassador of the State of Palestine to Ireland will also be appointed following a formal request and approval from the government.

“It is absurd to talk about how recognizing Palestine is an anti-Israeli move. There is no point in making that accusation or that claim. I think our decision will be a catalyst for others to consider their position. I think this is a very significant and historic moment for our country, as and Spain and Norway,” said the head of Irish diplomacy, Michael Martin.

Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris also said that this historic decision comes at a time of brutal Israeli attacks on Rafah.

“Unfortunately, now we have a new disgusting trend emerging where things of absolute horror are happening, and the Prime Minister of Israel comes out and describes it as a tragic mistake. The tragic mistake was the bombing of aid workers in April who were trying to provide food to the starving residents of Gaza.” he ordered.

After Norway, Ireland and Spain, other countries could make a similar move in the coming weeks, primarily Malta and Slovenia, which earlier signed a joint statement that they would recognize the state of Palestine, Klix.ba reports.
