At the proposal of the Ministry of Economy, the Government of Sarajevo Canton adopted today the Agricultural Land Development Program for 2024.

The program is aimed at encouraging agricultural production through increasing arable land, reducing uncultivated land and improving land characteristics, and represents a new step forward in the improvement of the agricultural sector, since it was not implemented in previous years, announced the Protocol and Press Service of Canton Sarajevo.

A number of measures such as cleaning, leveling the terrain, calcification, fertilization, humification, grubbing, as well as drainage and formation of terraces for agricultural production are foreseen. Funds in the amount of 233,000 BAM in the Sarajevo Canton Budget are intended for the implementation of these measures.

“This program is significant for the improvement of the agricultural sector, and we expect that it will result in an increase in productivity and economic sustainability for agricultural producers. The Ministry of Economy of the Canton of Sarajevo will soon announce a Public Call for applications for the use of the funds intended for this program,” said the Minister of Economy of the Canton Sarajevo Zlatko Mijatović.

Arrangement of agricultural land will be carried out on the basis of prepared projects preceded by land analysis by an authorized/registered laboratory/scientific professional institution for agricultural land affairs with recommendations for the implementation of appropriate measures, according to the announcement.
