The Government of the FBiH determined the maximum Margins for certain basic Foodstuffs

At yesterday‘s session in Mostar, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), at the proposal of the Federal Ministry of Trade, adopted a decision which, as a measure of direct price control in the territory of the Federation, prescribes the determination of the maximum margin in trade (calculated prices) for certain basic foodstuffs and other products.

It was explained that the Decision was made in accordance with the Law on Price Control, and with the aim of protecting the living standards of citizens, the FBiH Government Office for Public Relations announced.

When determining the amount of margins in wholesale and retail, it was taken into account that the traders’ margin can cover business costs and ensure the continuity of their activities, as well as that it does not serve to generate extra profit for traders.

According to the Decision, direct price control measures apply to products within the jurisdiction of FBiH, counties, cities and municipalities, prescribed by the provisions of the Law on Price Control, as well as to other foodstuffs and other products sold by all participants in the supply chain, i.e. economic companies and other legal and natural persons who produce and carry out wholesale and retail trade.

These legal and natural persons are obliged to determine and apply margins so that they do not exceed the maximum amount of margins in the percentage of the purchase price in wholesale and retail.

This obligation, according to yesterday‘s Decision, refers to wheat flour type 550 (wholesale margin of five percent per kilogram, retail margin of seven percent), then all types of wheat flour bread (whole or sliced) per kilogram (wholesale margin of five percent, retail margin seven percent), cow’s milk, pasteurized, homogenized and sterile per liter (wholesale margin three percent, retail six percent), as well as edible sunflower oil per liter (wholesale margin five percent, retail six percent). There is also crystal white sugar, per kilogram (wholesale margin four percent, retail eight percent), then fresh table eggs, per piece (wholesale margin five percent, retail six percent), as well as all types of fresh meat (wholesale margin five percent, retail six percent), and powder laundry detergents per kilogram and liquid dishwashing detergents per liter (wholesale margin eight percent, retail 12 percent).
