The Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Nikšić, after consulting with the relevant minister Adnan Delić, sent the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina an initiative to declare March 2, 2026 as a non-working day in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on the occasion of celebrating March 1 – the Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

At today’s telephone session, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted this initiative, which means that all state bodies, companies and other legal entities will be freed from work on this day.

Prime Minister Nikšić emphasized that this holiday has special significance for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Independence Day reminds us of the historic moment when our country stepped into independence. It is an opportunity to solemnly remember the values that unite us together, in the spirit of unity and respect for all generations that have contributed to our freedom,” said Prime Minister Nikšić.

This day, as emphasized by the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, should be an opportunity for gathering families, friends and communities, so that all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina can celebrate Independence Day with dignity and express pride in their homeland.
