Yesterday, the 30th anniversary of the independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) was solemnly marked with an event called “The Path of the Bosnian Knights” in the Old Town of Blagaj near Mostar, gathering Herzegovinian schoolchildren, guests, and dignitaries.
Organized by the House of Culture Blagaj in cooperation with primary and secondary schools of the City of Mostar, which yesterday marched through the streets of Mostar with the national flags of our country, the holiday of BiH was solemnly marked.
Along with the rich cultural program, historian Enver Imamovic, Speaker of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNC) Assembly Serif Spago, and BiH Minister of Security Selmo Cikotic spoke about the significance of the historic day.
“This is one of the most important dates not only in the modern but also in the overall past of BiH because three decades ago the people confirmed their will for BiH to exist as an independent sovereign and complete state,” stated Minister Cikotic.
The Chairman of the HNC Assembly, Serif Spago, emphasized that it is of great importance that there are many young people at this event and all those who learn about the importance of Independence Day and everything that their parents and relatives did and sacrificed so that we could enjoy freedom today, something that is most valued in the world.
“Such events give us the right to say that we will never allow anyone to question the freedom, and thus the independence and sovereignty of our only homeland,” Spago concluded, congratulating the holiday to all BiH citizens.
