Today, the town of Konjic marked the Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Day of Liberation of Konjic from Fascism with a festive program.

After the ceremonial parade through the streets of the city, on a small square next to the Konjic City Administration building, the program “Salute to the flag of our homeland” was organized, during which the students of Konjic High School unveiled the flags of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Kenan Šljivo from Konjic, dean of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Sarajevo and mayor of Konjic Osman Ćatić spoke about the homeland and patriotism of the gathered youth and citizens of Konjic.

“32 years ago, a generation took responsibility and set out on the path of freedom and independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and everything that followed was a difficult year of struggle for independence, for the freedom of our homeland. Patriotism is civilizational self-awareness and the greatest expression of patriotism is to be ready to enter society based on knowledge, that’s why I invite you to dedicate yourself to education and fight for your future and the future of this country with your knowledge,” said Šljivo.

Mayor Ćatić added:

“How many true feelings and love of all of us should be woven into the word homeland. Without the homeland, there is neither us nor our identity. Without the respect that we should show to the homeland and highlighting its features, there is no patriotism, which we should all have to be proud. Without a flag, a coat of arms, an anthem and a language, there is no such thing as what we call our country, our homeland, our homeland. That is why, loud and clear on the occasion of the Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Day of Liberation of Konjic from fascism, we proudly say that we live right here where lived, worked and fought, for every inch of this land our ancestors and where our descendants will live. For the sake of this youth here, for the sake of the children and all those who sincerely love this city and homeland Bosnia and Herzegovina, today we salute the flags of our only homeland Bosnia and Herzegovina, flags that the world, recognizing Bosnia and Herzegovina, recognized as something we are proud of and proud of. Let’s be proud of our homeland,” said Ćatić.

The ceremony continued in the Konjic Sports Hall, where the students of Konjic Primary and Secondary School showed how much they love their homeland Bosnia and Herzegovina with songs, dances and literary works, for which they were awarded, Klix.ba writes.
