The International Court of Justice found that Russia violated the UN Agreement

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) yesterday found that Russia violated parts of the United Nations (UN) anti-terrorism agreement by failing to investigate financial support to separatist groups in eastern Ukraine in 2014, but did not order compensation as requested by Ukraine.

The UN top court refused to rule explicitly on Russia’s alleged responsibility for the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 over eastern Ukraine on July 17th, 2014, as Kiev had requested.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke out and called for an international investigation into the downing of the Il-76 military transport plane last week in the Belgorod region on the border between Russia and Ukraine.

Putin said the plane was hit by missiles fired from the United States (U.S.)-supplied Patriot air defense system.

Moscow accuses Kiev of shooting down the Ilyushin Il-76 plane, killing 74 people on board, including 65 captured Ukrainian soldiers who were reportedly on their way to be exchanged for Russian prisoners of war.

Ukraine has neither confirmed nor denied that it shot down the plane, and has demanded proof of who was on board, N1 writes.
