Federal Minister of Environment and Tourism Nasiha Pozder held a meeting with the President of the Railways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mirza Hadžibegić, at which initiatives for the improvement of railway transport and the promotion of tourism in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina were discussed.

The main topics of discussion were the introduction of an additional tourist line to Mostar and Herzegovina, the establishment of a new tourist route to Vareš, and the importance of promoting the FBiH Railways as an important element of the social and tourist identity of our country.

“From June 27, the international railway line Sarajevo – Ploče will be established, which will be in operation until September 1. This line, recognized as one of the ten most beautiful railway routes according to renowned foreign media, will connect Sarajevo, Mostar and further towards Čapljina, the sea and Ploče, providing a unique experience for passengers. On the occasion of the opening of the new line, a festive program will be organized with the participation of guests, and the KUD ”Željezničar” will organize performances in Mostar and Sarajevo, which will further promote this important route,” the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism announced.

They added that another important project is the establishment of a special tourist route for Vareš during the tourist season.

“The idea is that this line, which will use an old locomotive with wagons adapted for tourists, promotes the natural and cultural and historical sights of Vareš, including local gastronomy, in cooperation with the Municipality of Vareš and the Tourist Board of the Zenica-Doboj Canton. Vareš’s belonging to the industrial heritage network is particularly emphasized, which further enriches the tourist offer of this region. The FBiH Railways Administration, in cooperation with institutions and local authorities, wants to strengthen its role in promoting tourism and connecting communities, with an emphasis on sustainable development and heritage preservation,” the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism stated, according to the FBiH Government’s Office for Public Relations.
