The investigation after the tram accident that happened in the area of the Sarajevo municipality Centar will continue tomorrow. The investigation is conducted under the supervision of two prosecutors, with the presence of mechanical and traffic experts.

Necessary expert examinations will be conducted with the aim of determining all the circumstances and manner of occurrence of the accident, after which a decision will be made on further procedural actions.

At this stage of the proceedings, the CS Prosecutor’s Office cannot provide more information, said Azra Bavčić, spokeswoman for the CS Prosecutor’s Office.

After several calls from citizens that an accident had occurred, i.e. a tram derailment, two teams from the Institute for Emergency Medical Assistance of Canton Sarajevo were sent to the scene, Dr. Riada Blažević told Fena news agency.

“Our teams treated three patients on the spot. One team transported a female patient with a head and lower leg injury to the Sarajevo Clinical Center. Another team examined and cared for two patients, who were also transported to the Clinical Center,” said Blažević.

One patient, with serious injuries, was transported to the General Hospital by the Health Center team that was present at the time of the accident before the ambulance arrived, and one person died on the spot.

A tram derailed today on Zmaja od Bosne Street in Sarajevo, near the National Museum. The force of the impact almost completely destroyed the tram station.

The main road is closed and yellow lanes have been installed, and vehicles on the main road are being diverted to alternative routes.
