The Israeli Delegation is traveling to Cairo for Talks on the Opening of the Rafah Crossing

An Israeli delegation will travel to Cairo today to discuss the possibility of reopening the Rafah border crossing with Egyptian, American and Qatari officials.

As reported by the Qatari news site Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, the delegation was described as “technical” and did not include senior officials.

According to the report, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected a proposal by Egypt and the US to monitor the crossing.

He insists that Israel plays a key role in overseeing border security, despite the offer including guarantees that Hamas will not be able to use the area for military purposes.

The Rafah border crossing has been closed since May, as Egypt refuses to operate the border crossing while Israel is present there.
