Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that Croatian citizen Nenad Petrak, the leader of the international drug cartel, was arrested in Istanbul.

Yerlikaya announced on his social media account that Petrak was arrested in Istanbul’s Uskudar district.

He pointed out that Petrak is the leader of an international drug cartel that transfers drugs from South America to Europe and distributes them in Europe.

“Croatian judicial authorities were looking for Petrak, for whom an Interpol red warrant was issued for the crime of ‘premeditated murder’,” said Yerlikaya.

He added that, according to data from the Croatian Agency for the Fight against Corruption and Organized Crime (USKOK), Petrak is someone who connects many people with his criminal organization in nine countries.

“Nenad Petrak, who was followed by our Istanbul Anti-Narcotics Department, the Intelligence Office and the Border Office under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security, was found to be in Uskudar. Operation KARTEL-2 was immediately launched with the support of the Directorate of Special operations in Istanbul to arrest an international drug smuggler. I congratulate our police officers who organized the action,” said Yerlikaya.
