The Leaders of the EU and the Balkan Countries will meet in Brussels

The leaders of the EU and the Balkan countries will meet today in Brussels, the Council of the European Union announced.

The summit will be an opportunity to confirm the European perspective of the Balkans, as well as the need for sustainable and irreversible achievements in the field of reforms based on EU values ​​and principles.

It is expected that the main topics will be deepening political engagement with the Balkans, bringing the Balkan partners closer to the bloc, progress on the path of gradual European integration of the region, building the economic foundation, mitigating the impact of the war in Ukraine, strengthening security and building resilience.

The European Council states that a declaration is expected at the end of the summit.

The last summit of the European Union and the countries of the Western Balkans was held last year in Tirana.
