On June 18th, 2007, a project of the Research and Documentation Center was presented in Sarajevo, stating that a total of 97.207 people died in the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) from 1992 to 1995.
Of that number, 64.036 are Bosniaks (Muslims), 24.905 are Serbs, 7.788 are Croats and 478 are others.
More than 33.000 civilians and 30.000 soldiers died among Bosniaks, slightly more than 4.000 civilians and almost 21.000 soldiers among Serbs, and 2.100 civilians and 5.600 soldiers among Croats.
Among members of other nations, 370 civilians and just over 100 soldiers were killed.
The highest number of victims was registered in Sarajevo (13.756), followed by Srebrenica, Prijedor, Zvornik, Bratunac, Foca, Vlasenica, Mostar, Doboj, Visegrad, Banja Luka, Brcko and Rogatica.
Based on the collected documentation on each victim, contacts with families, medical documentation on the determined death, and other sources, it was determined that 8,400 soldiers and 5,600 civilians died in Sarajevo (in both parts of the city – under the control of Bosniaks and Croats and under the control of Serbs).
Among the victims there were 9.499 Bosniaks, 3.597 Serbs, 749 Croats, and 166 members of other nations, BHRT writes.
