The results of the monitoring of the progress on the fulfillment of the pre-election promises of the mayors of 15 local communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) after the second year of the mandate showed again that the lower levels of government are much more concrete in the realization of the given promises.

”Istinomjer” followed a total of 513 promises of the mayors, of which 23 were fulfilled after two years of mandate, but numerous activities were also recorded to implement other promises.

Municipality Centar Sarajevo

Of the 28 promises made by the mayor of the Municipality of Centar Sarajevo, Srdjan Mandic, after two years in office, significant activities were recorded in the implementation of nine promises, while certain activities were recorded in the implementation of another ten promises.

Already in the first year of the mandate, the promise related to the live broadcast of the sessions of the Municipal Council was fulfilled, since all sessions of the Centar Municipal Council have been broadcast live via YouTube since the founding session.

”Istinomjer” collected the promises of Ernesto Imamovic, the mayor of Gorazde, from pre-election materials prepared for the promotion of activities and priorities in this local self-government. Out of a total of 19 promises collected, five were rated in progress, and nine were rated as started.

Municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo

Out of a total of 68 promises selected from Semir Efendic’s election program entitled “We continue together” for the Municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo, as of the end of the second year of the mandate, no activities were recorded on ten promises, 12 were rated as started, five promises were fulfilled, and almost two-thirds of the promises, or 41, were rated in progress. Of the five fulfilled promises, three were fulfilled in the first and two in the second year of the mandate.

Municipality of Novo Sarajevo

Out of a total of 69 promises selected from the election program of Hasan Tanovic, Mayor of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo, no activities were recorded for the implementation of four promises, 42 were rated as started, two were fulfilled, and 21 promises were rated in progress.

The pre-election program of the mayor of the Municipality of Ilidza, Nermin Muzur, consisted of 87 promises. Halfway through the mandate, one was fulfilled, in the second year, and it was a promise to adopt the development strategy of the Municipality of Ilidza, which happened in May 2022. On 17 promises, significant implementation activities were recorded, and they were rated in progress.

During the second year of the mandate, among other things, the construction and rehabilitation of sports fields were carried out, public lighting was installed at the Stojcevac picnic area, asphalted roads, benches and trash cans were renewed, a wooden track and training equipment were installed, and new LED lighting was installed in several local communities. More than half of the promises, 45 of them, are in the initial phase of implementation.

The program of the Mayor of Stari Grad Sarajevo, Ibrahim Hadzibajric, contained 13 promises, two of which were fully fulfilled after two years, which related to support for the self-employment of young people and the adaptation of the Bulbul kindergarten. The promise to build an underground garage and a multi-purpose plateau with a memorial on Liberation Square – Alija Izetbegovic was assessed as partially fulfilled considering that the project was implemented in 2022 without the construction of an underground garage, Klix.ba reports.
