Operetta ”The Merry Widow” by Franz Lehar will premiere at National Theatre Sarajevo on 15 February, reports FENA.

The librettists, Viktor Léon and Leo Stein, based the story – concerning a rich widow, and her countrymen’s attempt to keep her money in the principality by finding her the right husband – on an 1861 comedy play, L’attaché d’ambassade (The Embassy Attaché) by Henri Meilhac.

The operetta is directed by Krunoslav Cigoj from Croatia, while the conductor is Dario Vučić.

Cast:  Jasmin Bašić, Meliha Hajrulahović, Katarina Kikić, Davor Radić, Dragutin Matić, Aida Čorbadžić, Adema Pljevljak-Krehić, Amir Saračević, Ileš Bečei, Denis Isaković, Leonardo Šarić, Ivan Šarić, Dragan Pavlović, Edin Daši, Dejan Kajević and Emsad Bečić.

The tickets for the operetta are already in sale, and the first rerun will be on 16 February.

Manager of National Theatre of Sarajevo Dario Vučić announced two new projects of the theatre – regular matinee which will be held once a month on Saturday, and which will serve to affirm the young soloists, and also there is a project of starting a radio of National Theatre of Sarajevo.
