The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, will meet today in Budapest with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Péter Szijjártó.
After the ceremonial welcome, a tete-a-tete meeting between Konaković and Szijjártó and a meeting of the delegations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary are planned.
The program then foresees the signing of the Action Plan on the transfer of knowledge about the process of accession to the European Union between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, as well as an address to media representatives.
As part of his working visit to Hungary, at the invitation of Szijjártó, Konaković will participate in the annual meeting of the heads of diplomatic and consular missions of Hungary, where he will speak about the European path and the progress that BiH has achieved ahead of the European Commission’s report and the European Council’s decision on the opening of accession negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It is a very important gathering, held in the form of a panel discussion, which Hungary offered as a help to its diplomatic-consular network when it comes to lobbying, advocating and promoting information about BiH’s progress on the way to the EU.
Hungary, as a member of the EU, plays an important role in supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina’s efforts towards European integration, offering assistance in the accession process.
From July 1 this year, Hungary will assume the presidency of the Council of the EU, and one of the goals of the Hungarian presidency is to speed up the process of integration of the countries of the Western Balkans, announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
