The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Yoko Kamikawa, will visit some countries of the Western Balkans in the period from July 17 to 20, and Bosnia and Herzegovina is on her list of countries to visit.

This will be the first official visit to the Western Balkans, and he will visit Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo.

Kamikawa comes as part of the Initiative for Cooperation in the Western Balkans, and the goal is to encourage dialogue and personal cooperation with each country, building on Japan’s efforts in promoting dialogue and implementing economic cooperation.

Kamikawa will be in Sarajevo on July 18 and 19, and meetings are planned with the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto,  and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković.

As stated by the minister’s office, the unstable situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina continues even after the signing of the Dayton Agreement, and mistrust among ethnic groups is deeply rooted and affects the governance of the state.

That is why the meeting will discuss the strengthening of bilateral relations, and Japan will call for cooperation between ethnic groups in order to achieve peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

They also pointed out that Japan strongly supports the reconstruction and building of the state, Klix.ba writes.
