The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia announced today that Kosovo Prime Minister Aljbin Kurti’s claims about the movement of members of the Serbian Armed Forces near the administrative line with Kosovo are a continuation of the disinformation campaign directed against the Serbian security forces.

Last night, Kurti accused the Serbian Army on Facebook of being 50 meters from the line with Kosovo, but that the soldiers “ran away”, as he said, as soon as they were noticed, and added that it was about inciting tensions.

He published several photos showing a military vehicle, as well as several people in military uniforms, and he also provided the coordinates of the location where it allegedly happened, Beta agency reminds.

The Serbian Ministry of Defense announced that in a social media post members of the Serbian Armed Forces can be seen in the land security zone carrying out regular tasks to secure the administrative line and control the land security zone, in accordance with the Military-Technical and all other signed agreements.

“The alleged security forces that Kurti mentions in the media, who came into contact with members of the Serbian Armed Forces at the mentioned location, are in fact smugglers of illegally cut forests from the area of central Serbia, which otherwise has become a lucrative illegal business.

On Saturday, the security authorities of the administrative line, with their activities, cut off the illegal activities of transferring timber in the territory of Kosovo, during which the wood thieves fled to the territory of Kosovo, and the found vehicles used for this criminal activity were handed over to members of the Ministry of the Interior,” the Ministry of Defense of Serbia stated.

It is added that there is no place for Kosovo police or Kosovo security forces in securing the administrative line towards Kosovo, since Resolution 1244 of the United Nations Security Council and the Military-Technical Agreement do not recognize subjects other than the international civilian and security presence in the Province and the Serbian security forces.

“In this sense, he states that the Kosovo authorities are closely monitoring the situation in case of any activities of the Serbian forces in the Land Security Zone and along the administrative line, which have no basis in reality and show a complete disregard for agreed agreements,” the statement reads.
