Situated on the steep cliffs of Mount Soganli, between the Turkish cities of Bayburt and Trabzon, the Kirklar Mosque (Mosque of Forty) is a popular destination for nature lovers and hikers.

Built on a spot overlooking the region, known as “Kirklar Tepesi” (Hill of Forty) among the local population, surrounded by cliffs on three sides, the mosque offers visitors a unique view.

The hill, 3.200 meters high, can be reached by vehicle and on foot.

Built of stone on the slope of the hill, and later renovated with wood, the mosque also contains a kitchen and accommodation for those who wish to spend the night there.

Although the exact date of construction is not known, the mosque was once a favorite place among those who wanted to strengthen their spirituality.
