Using social media data and Google search results, Cloudwards.net has generated an interesting list of the most popular Christmas destinations around the world.

A search of this software and privacy tool review website showed that most people from around the world are dreaming and planning to come to London. The United Kingdom (UK) capital is at the top of the wish list in around twenty countries, including Spain, the Netherlands, Canada and Australia.

The most common keywords used are “Christmas in London” and “things to do in London for Christmas”.

Vienna in Austria is the second most popular city for Christmas, especially in Italy, Germany and the United States (U.S.), writes Pun Kufer.

On the list of the ten most popular cities to celebrate Christmas, most of them are located in Europe. The only exceptions are New York City in third place, which it shares with Paris, and Tokyo in Japan in seventh place, which it shares with Berlin, Munich and Nuremberg in Germany, Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Copenhagen in Denmark and Strasbourg in France.

An analysis by Cloudwards.net showed that Europeans most often stay within the borders of their own continent during Christmas. If they travel, they go to neighboring countries, mostly to the cities of Vienna and Budapest.

For the British people, Prague is the perfect place for a Christmas break, and for the French, it’s Brussels. The Portuguese love Paris, and the Austrians love Nuremberg.

In contrast, many Canadian, American and Australian travelers are happy to travel far from home for the ideal Christmas break, the data shows.

The most popular cities to celebrate Christmas according to Cloudwards.net’s analysis:

London (UK), Vienna (Austria), New York (U.S.,) Paris(France), Budapest (Hungary), Madrid (Spain), Prague (Czech Republic), Brussels (Belgium), Tokyo (Japan), Berlin(Germany), Munich (Germany), Nuremberg (Germany), Amsterdam (Netherlands), Copenhagen (Denmark), Strassbourg(France), Cloudwards.com reports.
