There are only a few hours left until the New Year 2024, and judging by the photos from the streets of Sarajevo from yesterday, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) will be packed with domestic and foreign guests this year as well, the city administration announced.
The New Year’s celebration will begin with a concert by the Sarajevo Philharmonic in the National Theater at 7:30 p.m., while a definitive spectacle will follow in Tito’s street, where the “Sarajevo Story” program will begin at 9 p.m. Laka, Bombaj Stampa, Zabranjeno Pusenje and Crvena Jabuka will perform.
Photos from the streets confirm that the New Year’s atmosphere in Sarajevo is at its peak. In the afternoon, the popular Vucko, the mascot of the Winter Olympic Games held in Sarajevo in 1984, walked through Saraci, Ferhadija, and Tito’s streets. Accompanied by Mayor Benjamina Karic and the host of the “Sarajevo Story” program Zenit Djozic, Vucko greeted hundreds of citizens and tourists, and that he was an attraction on the streets of the capital is evidenced by the fact that he “walked” from the Town Hall to the Cathedral and took pictures for almost two hours.
According to data from the Tourist Board of Canton Sarajevo (CS) and Booking.com, accommodation facilities in Sarajevo are full and guests are arriving from all over BiH, the region, and Europe.
The organizers of the New Year’s program “Sarajevo Story” and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the CS once again appeal to citizens and guests to adhere to the rules in the changed traffic regime and respect all conditions and rules that apply in Tito’s Street at the Public New Year Celebration on December 31st.
The entrances to Tito’s Street are open from 7:30 PM from the direction of Aria Center, Kulovica Street, Dalmatinska Street, and Senoina Street.
