Number of Google Searches to Visit BiH jumped by 5, 800 Percent: Growing Tourist Interest Following the World Cup

The travel experts singled out Bosnia and Herzegovina as a hidden gem worth visiting in 2026, which became the most popular country for tourists.

The experts from Iglu Cruise used Google research data to confirm which countries are heavily visited following the World Cup.

Although the World Cup has ended, it is noted that the impressive performance of Bosnia and Herzegovina at this tournament has attracted the attention of travel lovers, including many who are planning to visit this country.

According to Iglu Cruise, Bosnia and Herzegovina is currently trending first. By using the term “visit” followed by the country’s name, the research for Bosnia and Herzegovina has grown by 5,800 percent this month, compared to the same period the previous year.

The experts emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the most affordable destinations, which makes it a must-visit destination, especially for backpackers with a limited budget. According to their predictions, Bosnia and Herzegovina will experience a boom in tourism in the upcoming months.

They singled out the emerald lakes and turquoise rivers of Bosnia and Herzegovina for their exceptional beauty. The travel expert, Jacob Wedderburn-Day, explained to UNILAD that Bosnia and Herzegovina is often overshadowed by Croatia when tourism is in question.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina falls under Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, and Yugoslav heritage, offering distinctive cuisine, mountainous landscapes, and historic towns within a relatively compact destination. It offers much diversity to travelers without having to move through more countries. Image-driven social media helped places like Mostar and Kravice Waterfalls attract the attention of travelers who were previously less familiar with this country. After people discover those main destinations, they often realize there is more to explore,” he said.

He further added that Sarajevo is a starting point for exploration, and travellers can further move towards Mostar.

“What makes Bosnia and Herzegovina attractive is how closely connected its history and landscapes are. A traveler can spend a morning exploring a historic city, and later that day, be among the mountains, rivers, or waterfalls,” he said.

The expert on traveling, Paul Stewart, added that Bosnia and Herzegovina can offer a better value than many European destinations, especially when it comes to enjoying local delicacies, Klix.ba writes.
