At least 22,438 Palestinians have been killed and 57,614 wounded in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip since October 7, the Palestinian enclave’s health authorities said.

“Children and women make up 70 percent of the victims,” Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said.

He added that 125 people were killed and 318 injured in Israeli attacks in the last 24 hours.

According to the spokesman, 326 medical workers were killed, 121 ambulances were destroyed, and 30 hospitals and 53 health centers were shut down since October 7.

Al-Qudra said 99 medical workers were still in Israeli custody.

Israel launched relentless air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip after a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on October 7, which Israeli authorities said killed around 1,200 people.

The attacks left the Gaza Strip in ruins. About 60 percent of the enclave’s infrastructure was damaged or destroyed, and nearly two million residents were displaced.

Since the beginning of the war, 80 percent of the population of Gaza has been displaced
