[wzslider autoplay=”true”]Event to mark 98 years of existence of football in Gorazde was organized in this city. A small celebration for all lovers of this sport, the former aces and veterans, current players and all the fans of this sport was organized in local Cultural Centre, where was set up an exhibition of photographs that are witnessing the generations of football players from this area.
Football was played in Gorazde from 1918, and the oldest living football player from this area is Srdjan Tanaskovic, who came from Belgrade for this occasion. He played the first match in 1948. The memory still serves him and he has great memories on football.
“I’m glad that someone remembered us, old football players. It was a good time, we had a good life, and we lived for the club,” said Tanaskovic.
From the period when it was established, FC Gorazde changed its name many times, and it was called “Herceg Stjepan”, “Bratstvo”, “GOSK”, “Radnicki” and the football club “Azot” – Vitkovici.
About long tradition of football in Vitkovici and Gorazde, times when this sport was developing and generations who played football, spoke prof. Alija Dzemidzic, former football players Salko Dervisevic, Edib Covcic and others, and especially emotional was recalling of Braco Kuljuh.
“Those were great times, it was a good life. We played with the heart,” said Kuljuh.
For the overall contribution to the affirmation of football and the construction of sports infrastructures in Gorazde, gold plaquette was posthumously awarded to Enver Kuljuh, former director of Pobjeda. Awards were also given to former football players, successful coaches and families of deceased football players.
The first football club, according to records of Prof. Rasim Zivojevic, was founded in 1918 in Gorazde, and the first match was played against team of Jugovic from Foca. About the history of the development of football that was played even in the most difficult days of the war in 40’s and 90’s, tell symbolic 98 photos, whose setting took place in the hall of the Cultural Centre.
Local rivals Gorazde and Azot took care that everything goes in the spirit of sportsmanship, and they played a friendly match at the city stadium.
“Gorazde is one of the cities in which some of the branches of sport are very appreciated and developed. As in our other cities, football in Gorazde has the most supporters. This is one of the oldest branches of sport in Gorazde,” emphasized the organizers of the event, members of the Association for the preservation of natural and civilizational heritage “Sinan Pasa Sijercic”.
Minister of Education, Youth, Science, Culture and Sport Damir Zuga and Muhamed Ramovic, Mayor of Gorazde, expressed their gratitude to football masters and promised to continue to support the strengthening of football as well as other sports in the BPC and the Municipality of Gorazde.
