The Pentagon released a report on unidentified flying objects (UFOs) stating that investigations by US authorities since the end of World War II have found no evidence of extraterrestrial technology, but rather misidentified ordinary objects and natural phenomena.
The report follows the Pentagon’s announcement in 2022 that its then-newly formed All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) had found no evidence to suggest aliens had visited or landed on Earth.
The Pentagon submitted the first of two volumes of the new report to Congress last week, according to Defense Department spokesman Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder.
He said that no evidence has been found, whether by investigation, academic sponsored research or an official commission, to confirm that any UFO sighting represented alien technology.
“Although many UFO reports remain unsolved or unidentified, AARO estimates that most of these cases, if more and better data were available, could also be identified and resolved as ordinary objects or phenomena,” the report’s overview states.
According to the document, authorities have funded investigations since 1945 to determine whether UFOs pose a risk to flight safety, technological leaps from competing countries or evidence of “alien technology under intelligent control.”
The report notes that there is a persistent narrative in popular culture that the US administration or some secret organization within it has found several “extraterrestrial spacecraft and alien biological remains” and is operating programs to “reverse engineer” the technology found.
