As part of the “Ramadan Action”, the humanitarian organization Pomozi.ba began distributing close to 500 tons of food for socially vulnerable citizens throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports Anadolu news agency.
The action started this morning with the departure of 25 trucks from Sarajevo to about 20 cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The president of the Pomozi.ba Association, Elvir Karalić, pointed out that with this aid convoy they are officially opening the Ramadan campaign.
“The food will be distributed throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. All cantons, part of the RS are covered, a large number of associations and organizations will receive this food, and the trucks primarily contain food, packages that will be distributed to the socially vulnerable population throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Karalić.
Emphasizing that this is a large humanitarian action, Karalić said that this is only a part of the entire Ramadan action of a total of one thousand tons of food.
“The distribution of these 500 tons is planned in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the remaining 500 tons are already being prepared for distribution, part in Palestine, and part in Syria and Turkey, i.e. areas that were hit by a terrible earthquake at this time last year. I can freely say that this is our biggest Ramadan campaign so far,” said Karalić.
He also announced the continuation of the humanitarian activities of the “Pomozi.ba” Association with the aim of benefiting the socially vulnerable categories and society in general.
He explained that the aid convoy sent today from Sarajevo to the rest of Bosnia and Herzegovina contains packages containing basic food items such as flour, oil, sugar and salt, and that these packages are 70 kilograms each and worth about 100 BAM.
“As before, we will distribute wardrobes, hygiene items and everything that citizens need,” said Karalić.
