The rain that has been falling for days in Bosnia and Herzegovina has finally stopped. The river levels are decreasing, and the situation regarding the floods that affected parts of our country is stabilizing. A slight increase in the water level was recorded only on the Sava River, which, according to forecasts, will continue in the next two days. The floods had the worst consequences in Krajina, where hundreds of buildings and large areas of agricultural land were flooded.

“Voda Srpska” announced that at the water measuring station in Gradiška, the water level of the Sava is 706 centimeters, thus exceeding the level of regular flood protection, which is 700 centimeters.

The rise in the water level of the Sava is a consequence of the wave of water arriving from Slovenia and Croatia and the tributaries of this river in the territory of the Republika Srpska.

On the Vrbas River, the water level is still elevated, but with a tendency to stagnate and decrease in the coming days, in values depending on the mode of operation of the “Bočac” Hydroelectric Power Plant.

The water levels of the Una and Sana rivers in Novi Grad are dropping by more than half a meter each, but regular flood defense measures are still in effect, the municipal Civil Protection said.

As they stated, the water level of Una this morning is 462 centimeters, or 52 less than yesterday morning, and the level of Sana is 490 centimeters or 60 less than yesterday morning.

More than 40 residential buildings were flooded in Novi Grad, and 46 people were evacuated from the settlements of Mlakve and Rudica.

Mirko Lukić, an independent expert associate for Civil Protection, said that water is being pumped out in the Radišići neighborhood and near the “Sveti Sava” Elementary School, after which dryers will be delivered to the citizens.

The headquarters for emergency situations in Novi Grad, which lifted the state of emergency last night, decided that after two days of suspension, classes in primary and secondary schools will begin today, except for the “Sveti Sava” Elementary School. Also, today, the Kindergarten “Pčelica Maja” is working.

Due to the damage, traffic was suspended on ten local roads.

At the water measuring station in Prijedor, the water level of the Sana River was measured at 367 centimeters, which is below the level of regular flood protection, with a tendency to further decrease in the coming days.

The situation on the other main watercourses in the Republika Srpska in the Sava and Trebišnjica basins is stable.
