Restoration of the house of Meho Aljic known as “Live bonfire” started in settlement of Bikavac in Visegrad, in which on the 27th of June 1992, Milan Lukic with members of paramilitary formation “Osvetnici” burned more than 70 Bosniak civilians among which were generally weak elderly people, women and children.
24 years after the horrible crimes committed on this place, the house will be finally restored, which is especially important to families of killed Bosniak civilians who were marking the anniversary of the crime in Bikavac on the ruins of the house.
“This is sacred place for us and it is very important for all of us to visit this execution site,” said Bakira Hasecic, President of the Association “Women Victims of War”.
According to her, after renovation of this place, all those who want it, especially families of victims, will be able to visit this place and recite Fatiha and pay tribute to all the victims with dignity.
“All evidences of the crime have been destroyed, and only two bones are found until today that witness this horrible crime,” said Hasecic.
As announced, the house of Meho Aljic will be restored before the anniversary of the crime, in order for the families of killed Bosniaks to be able to mark this day with dignity.
To recall, the families of victims are still searching for the remains of their loved ones, and the war criminal Milan Lukic, who is responsible for crimes committed in Bikavac and other crimes against Bosniak civilians committed in the area of Visegrad, was sentenced to life imprisonment.
