The Religious – Cultural Manifestation opened in Prusac

Days of AjvatovicaWith the ceremonial program, that was held last night in Prusac near Donji Vakuf, the 505th Days of Ajvatovica officially started.

This great religious – cultural manifestation was opened by the Vice-President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Melika Mahmutbegovic, who said that Ajvatovica is “deeply rooted in the identity of Bosnian Muslims, and that is, from the moment of its reconstruction after the war, it became an event that is more than pilgrimage site“.

The president of the Organizing Committee of the 505th Days of Ajvatovica, Travnik mufti, Ahmed ef. Adilovic, said that, in the next month, in thirteen municipalities in BiH, this manifestation will offer 92 events, whose participants will be institutions of the Islamic Community, scientific and educational institutions, cultural-sports associations and guest from the Republic of Turkey.

He also said that the central event of this year’s Days of Ajvatovica will be the going to the Ajvaz-dedina stijena (Ajvaz – grandfather’s rock) on Sunday, 14th June.

“Ajvatovica is the religious-cultural manifestation with the longest tradition at Bosnian Muslims, long more than five centuries. They cherished and guarded it, and it gave them an inspiration. It has sometimes been forbidden, as it happened in 1947 when it was violently disrupted, but it has be renewed n 1990. From then until now, it is present again and over again inspires its lovers“, emphasized he.
