The Scale of the Disaster is immense, the Search for the Victims continues

After part of the water has receded and the first layer of accumulated material, mud and stones has been removed, the scale of the disaster that hit Donja Jablanica, the part of Bosnia and Herzegovina most affected by the floods, has been revealed since this morning.

Teams of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, entity and cantonal civil protection, mountain rescue service and numerous volunteers are trying to remove the consequences of the disaster in the shortest possible time with the use of heavy machinery.

Locals of Donja Jablanica, who lost their neighbors, relatives and property, are visiting the destroyed settlement today in the hope that one of the missing will be found alive.

Mladen Kulić, the leader of the USAR team of the Republican Civil Protection Administration of the RS, reminded that based on the invitation of the Federal Civil Protection Administration, and based on the approval of acting director of the Republic Administration of Civil Protection, ten members of the RUCZ came to Donja Jablanica yesterday in the afternoon, of which seven members of the Rescue Team from the ruins and three operators with heavy machinery.

“We have been here since the afternoon, helping our colleagues from the Federal Administration to clear the terrain and enter the buildings in order to save themselves, that is, to extract the injured. It is a very difficult situation, a large amount of stones came from above, there is a quarry above this place, five or six buildings was totally destroyed, yesterday, unfortunately, we only had lifeless bodies pulled out,” said Kulić.

He said that the search for the missing continues, Federalna writes.
