The Slovenian Government has imposed Sanctions on Milorad Dodik

Today, the Slovenian government imposed sanctions on Milorad Dodik, the former president of Republika Srpska who was legally sentenced to one year in prison (he redeemed the sentence) and was banned from holding this position and political activity for 6 years, it was confirmed for BHRT.

Milorad Dodik is prohibited from entering the country due to sanctions.

An important reason for the measure against Dodik is the extensive outflow of capital of dubious origin from Republika Srpska and the wider region of the Western Balkans to Slovenia.

According to the information we have, the Government confirmed at today’s session that Slovenia will issue an entry ban for the deposed president of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik.

The material was prepared by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs (MZEZ) of Slovenia.

The Government of Slovenia discussed this two weeks ago, but this point was not concluded because additional materials were requested.

According to unofficial information, the initiative to impose sanctions against Dodik was given to the Slovenian government by representatives of several security agencies who had already discovered a large flow of capital of suspicious origin from Republika Srpska to Slovenia in previous years.

The focus was also on a villa with a swimming pool in the center of Portorož that was purchased without a loan.
