The special unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of BiH led by commander Dragan Vikić at the beginning of the war will receive its own memorial in the park near the Second Gymnasium in Sarajevo.
The head of the Municipality of Centar, Srđan Mandić, shared on his official Facebook profile the news that a conclusion has been reached which establishes the Proposal for the Decision on giving consent to the Draft Agreement on the establishment of building rights for the construction of memorials.
As stated in the conclusion, it is planned that the monument will be placed in the park near the Second Gymnasium in Sarajevo. Let us remind you that a documentary film about Dragan Vikić, written by Arijana Saračević Helać, was recently premiered.
“Vikić’s special forces will finally get their monument! Not wanting to go into the reasons why it wasn’t done much earlier, and it had to be, in this way we are correcting another great injustice. I sent the necessary conclusion proposal to the April session of Centar and I expect it to be adopted. Municipality of Centar has removed all administrative obstacles. Vikić’s special forces deserve their own monument,” says Mandić.
This will be another way for Sarajevo to repay the legendary Commander Vikić for everything he did for this city during the war, and even after it.
In 2004, Vikić also received the Sixth of April Award, and this year, on City Day, a documentary film was premiered about this hero of many generations and a legend of Sarajevo, Klix.ba reports.
