The Trade Union Consumer Basket in BiH amounts to almost Three Thousand BAM!

The trade union consumer basket calculated by the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina for October 2023 is 2,955.10 convertible marks.

The average salary paid in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the month of August 2023 was BAM 1,281.00 (the latest data published by the Federal Bureau of Statistics). The minimum wage according to the decision of the FBiH Government is 596.00 BAM.

Coverage of the trade union consumer basket by the average salary is 43.35 percent. Coverage of the trade union consumer basket by the minimum wage is 20.17 percent.

When creating the union consumer basket, the average salary paid in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was taken into account, as well as the minimum living expenses of a four-member family consisting of two adults and two children, one of whom is in high school and the other in elementary school.

The consumer basket itself consists of the following categories: food 43.67 percent, housing and communal services 13.45 percent, hygiene and health care 9.12 percent, education and culture 8.79 percent, clothing and footwear 13.53 percent, transportation 4, 67 percent and housekeeping 6.77 percent.

In the food category, prices from three shopping centers were used for 86 items. When it comes to hygiene and health maintenance, expenses for ten items were counted, and for housing and communal services, expenses for six items.
