By 4:30 p.m., 1,195,377 voters or 36 percent had turned out for the elections for the President of the Republic of Croatia, the State Election Commission of the Republic of Croatia announced.

The turnout for Sunday’s elections was lower than five years ago, when 1,343,000 voters did their civic duty by Sunday afternoon, or about 147,000 more.

There are eight candidates in the election race for the five-year presidential term. Along with the current President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović, Most’s candidate Miro Bulj, independent Tomislav Jonjić, Ivana Kekin (Možemo), Branka Lozo (DOMiNO), Dragan Primorac (HDZ and partners) and independent candidates Marija Selak Raspudić and Niko Tokić Kartelo are competing.

The Croatian president is elected by a majority electoral system. If in the first round no candidate receives a majority of the votes, the two candidates with the highest number of votes go to the second round, which takes place in 14 days, in this case on January 12, 2025.
