The Uborak Landfill and Corridor Vc cannot exist in Parallel

The first public hearing for the construction project of the subsection on the Corridor Vc Konjic (Ovcari) – Prenj tunnel – Mostar was held yesterday in Mostar’s City Hall, and the legal basis for the evaluation procedure of the Environmental Protection Agency, as well as the environmental impact study, were presented at it.

Amna Popovac from the association “Eko dvogled” (Eco binoculars) said that the Uborak landfill must be closed in order for the Corridor Vc to exist.

“The Interchange of the Corridor Vc exits about a kilometer from the landfill, and Uborak and Corridor Vc cannot exist in parallel. You know that there are big wind roses in the north and that they will carry those bags, and if the wind brings the bags to the Old Town and south of Mostar, it will also bring them north and that is certainly more than one kilometer. Uborak must be closed in order for Corridor Vc to exist. We will also send all of this in writing and we hope that we will be active participants in these discussions and that they will not leave us out, as they had in the past, leaving the public out of making decisions important to our lives,” Popovac emphasized.

She also added that the Prenj tunnel is a big issue here, as well as the fact that Jablanica and Konjic will be left without a connection to this corridor.

The Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism invited the residents of Mostar and Konjic, as well as all interested entities and non-governmental organizations, to participate in the public hearing on the mentioned project, and today, May 11th, the second public hearing will be held in the premises of the City of Konjic.
